CIC 1917 term for impediments, which render a person incapable of making a juridical act with any person. E.g. impediment of ordination, impediment of previous bond, impediment of perpetual vow of chastity of one in Religious Institute of Pontifical right for marriage etc. are absolute impediments for contracting marriage. The CIC and CCEO has suppressed the distinctions of absolute impediment, simple impediments etc. (see “impediment”).
